Bon Secours Medical Group Introduces Two New Urologists

SUFFERN, NY -- Bon Secours Medical Group is taking urological care to the next level by providing local access to leading specialists and equipping them with the most sophisticated therapies and technology.

We proudly announce that urologists Ross Bauer, M.D. and Christopher Dixon, M.D. have joined Bon Secours Urology, a part of the Bon Secours Medical Group. They are now available to perform the most advanced minimally invasive urology surgeries and treatments that allow for smaller incisions and faster recovery times. Additionally, the group's new screening tools and techniques bring heightened accuracy and definition.

Dr. Bauer is a board-certified urologist who has been serving the county since 2010 at Rockland Urology Associates. He specializes in adult urology, including male and female urinary issues, the treatment of kidney stones and advanced bladder and prostate cancers. Dr. Bauer received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine in Buffalo, NY. He stayed in the state to perform his internship and urology residency at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Dr. Bauer is dedicated to staying up-to-date on the latest information in the field of urology, and is an active member of several urological organizations including the American Urological Association.

Dr. Dixon is board-certified in urology and has been practicing for over 25 years. His particular areas of expertise include prostate disease and reconstructive urology including urethral stricture disease and urologic trauma. He was instrumental in the clinical development and FDA clearance of the Rezūm procedure. This is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure based on convective water vapor therapy (steam) now being used to treat prostate enlargement as an alternative to more traditional surgery. He has published extensively and in 2014 was awarded first prize at the World Congress of Endo-Urology in Taipei, Taiwan for his work on the Development of Convective Water Vapor Therapy for the In Vivo Treatment of Prostate Cancer. More recently he has been working in the area of MRI/Ultrasound fusion guided prostate biopsy techniques and state-of-the art minimally invasive targeted ablation for localized prostate cancer.
