New Neurologist and Epileptologist Joins Bon Secours Medical Group

SUFFERN, NY -- Bon Secours Charity Health System is proud to announce the addition of highly-skilled neurologist and epileptologist, Steven Smith, M.D. to the Bon Secours Medical Group.

Dr. Smith is board-certified in neurology and epilepsy. He specializes in clinical neurophysiology with a particular emphasis in EEG, seizure disorders, and epilepsy. Dr. Smith is a Brooklynite who most recently spent two years in the neurology department at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine, also in Brooklyn. He performed his neurology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University Medical Center), and his dual clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy fellowships at NYU Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Smith is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society. He is committed to providing expert care to a diverse population and is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Smith brings with him a wealth of clinical and research expertise. He joins Mill Etienne, M.D., Director of the Epilepsy and EEG Laboratory at Good Samaritan Hospital to enhance and expand the new In-Patient EEG Monitoring Program. This program is the only one of its kind in Rockland and Orange Counties to provide patients local access to life-saving neurological analysis through in-hospital EEG monitoring. Good Samaritan Hospital has a new dedicated EEG monitoring suite where patients can have their abnormal neurological events observed by Dr. Smith and Dr. Etienne in real time. They can now provide a more accurate diagnosis and make immediate medical decisions and interventions for patients suffering from unexplained neurological conditions.
