Bon Secours Orthopedics offers advanced orthopedic care for the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoarthritis, rotator cuff and meniscus tears, fractures, sports injuries, hand, wrist and elbow pain and degenerative diseases of the knees, hips or shoulders. Robert Meyerson, MD, and Daniel Charen, MD, have joined Kenneth S. Austin, MD, to offer specialized orthopedic care to our community. With over 50 years of combined orthopedic expertise, Bon Secours Orthopedics offers patients advanced surgical and nonsurgical treatment to address their orthopedic needs. 

Kenneth S. Austin, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience caring for individuals across all levels of sports competition, including little league, high school, college and professional athletes. He is now focused on non-operative diagnoses, treatment and management of sports injuries, fractures and disorders/conditions of the knee and other extremities. Dr. Austin completed his fellowship in reconstructive surgery of the knee at Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital and orthopedic surgery residency at New York University/Bellevue School of Medicine, where he also received his medical degree. 

Robert Meyerson, MD, is double board-certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine, providing expert care to athletes of all ages, including the “weekend warrior.” He has advanced training and extensive experience in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, partial or total joint replacement surgery and treatment of degenerative arthritis. When appropriate, Dr. Meyerson strongly advocates conservative treatment options, including anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy and activity modification. Dr. Meyerson completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute (now NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital), orthopedic surgery residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and medical degree at State University of New York Downstate. He has three decades of experience teaching future orthopedic surgeons and medical students, as well as leading sports medicine and orthopedic surgery departments at New York hospitals. Dr. Meyerson is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and his professional research has been published in peer-reviewed national journals. 

Daniel Charen, MD, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon who has worked as an assistant team physician for high school, college and professional teams, including the NFL Houston Texans, NBA Houston Rockets, MLB Houston Astros, MLS Houston Dynamos and the University of Houston football and basketball teams. He also was on the medical staff for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. His focus is on both the non-operative and surgical treatment of shoulder, knee, hip and elbow conditions, including ACL tears, meniscus tears, rotator cuff tears, shoulder replacement, shoulder instability, other sports injuries and fractures. Dr. Charen is completing his sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and medical degree at University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Charen is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America with his research on college athlete injuries appearing in numerous publications, presentations and media outlets.
