Daniel Charen MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder, and is an Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at the New York Medical College School of Medicine. He has worked as an assistant team physician for high school, college and professional teams, including the National Football League Houston Texans, National Basketball Association Houston Rockets, Major League Baseball Houston Astros, Major League Soccer Houston Dynamo, National Women's Soccer League Houston Dash and the University of Houston football and basketball teams. He also was on the medical staff for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. His focus is on both the non-operative and surgical treatment of shoulder, knee, hip and elbow conditions, including ACL tears, meniscus tears, complex knee ligament injuries, cartilage restoration, rotator cuff tears, shoulder replacement, shoulder instability, complex shoulder injuries, other sports injuries and fractures. 

Dr. Charen received his undergraduate degree at Cornell University. He graduated medical school at the University of Rochester with a Distinction in Research. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by a Sports Medicine and Shoulder fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Charen is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, with his research on college athlete injuries appearing in numerous publications, presentations and media outlets.
